Who the Heck Sings that Song!!??
Some afternoons I find myself listening to the radio during my commute home and will unexpectedly come across a song or two that appear completely out of the blue. Against better judgement, I usually take out a notepad from my glovebox and attempt to carefully drive and scribble down key words at the same time. To my surprise, there is a slight science to the madness.
With a combination of Google, ITunes, friends in low places, and a bit of luck, I've been able to track down a good majority of these mystery melodies so far.
Today I discovered the ultimate tool. An online feature on this radio station's site that tracks their playlist hour by hour. Complete with song name, artist name, and album as well.
Pretty sweet huh?
This is what I found:
"Live Like You Were Dyin'"
He said I was in my early 40's,
With a lot of life before me,
And a moment came that stopped me on a dime.
I spent most of the next days, lookin' at the x-rays,
Talkin' 'bout the options and talkin' 'bout sweet time.
Asked him when it sank in, and this might really be the real end.
How's it hit ya, when you get that kind of news.
Man what ya do.
And he says,
[Chorus]
I went sky divin',
I went rocky mountain climbin',
I went 2.7 seconds on a bull name Fu Manchu.
And I loved deeper,
And I spoke sweeter,
And I gave forgiveness I've been denying,
And he said someday I hope you get the chance,
To live like you were dyin'.
He said I was finally the husband,
But most the time I wasn't.
And I became a friend a friend would like to have.
And all the sudden goin' fishing,
Wasn't such an imposition.
And I went three times that year I lost my dad.
Well I finally read the good book,
And I took a good long hard look at what I'd do
If I could do it all again.
And then.
[Chorus]
Like tomorrow was a gift and you've got eternity
To think about what you do with it,
What could you do with it, what can
I do with with it, what would I do with it.

Random Thought on a Lazy Day
My mom called me early in the morning to inform me that my sister's boyfriend had taken them to their first ever MLB game out at Minute Maid Park. The excitement with which she was describing the night totally cracked me up on the inside.
"LIB, LIB, that ball thrower(Roy Oswalt)is so good. He's so small but he can throw the ball really fast. Even make it curve!!! He reminds me of Steven Francis from the Rockets. The stadium is so beautiful! The train is so cute!"
In response to her enthusiasm, I promised to take her out to see TMac and Yao the next time I visit during the NBA season. She'll probably go nuts. My mom is so cool.
My sister's boyfriend (soon to be fiance) really scored some points with me on this one though. We haven't met in person yet, but he will be staying with us this upcoming Thanksgiving and I'm looking forward to spending some time feeling him out.
Pray for a balance between bully and protective brother figure....=)
